Event: State Apology to Those Unjustly Convicted of Homosexual Acts (Victoria, Australia), Topic: On Tuesday 24 May, 2016 at 2pm, the rainbow flag was hoisted above the Victorian Parliament building as the Victorian Government delivered a formal state apology in Parliament to those who had been previously convicted under those very unjust and very, very prejudiced laws that criminalised homosexual acts. The legislation to expunge the records of those convicted of homosexual acts was passed in 2014 but on May 24, 2016, the government with bi partisan support, apologised for the injustice of the law that criminalised homosexual activity.
